BACKGROUND
On
September 18, 2004, the Virginia Conservation Network joined with the Piedmont
Environmental Council for a special gathering of Virginia's environmental community
in Barboursville, Virginia. Virginia Lieutenant Governor Tim Kaine was among elected
officials in attendance, and responded to the Reconnecting Virginia presentation.At
that event, Hank Dittmar, internationally renowned transportation innovator presented
a comprehensive look at the connection between land use, the Commonwealth's major
rail and road transportation corridors and our environment.
